Alignment is the result of everyone being on the same page, pulling together at the same time. It eliminates confusion, repetition, inefficiencies , frustration and individualism; all aspects that reduce the resilience of a team.
Alignment is never a random process and will certainly not take place on it’s own; it is always the result of careful planning and implementation. It is also a process that needs to happen at regular intervals. The ability to accurately make the necessary adjustments is equally important.
Where many businesses make a fatal mistake is they build their organisation structures, policies and motivational strategies without taking into account human behaviour. This is the result of the myth that people are malleable, infinitely teachable and can do anything if they put their minds to. This is simply not true. People function best within their areas of natural motivations. Which is why any organisational and system design must be human centric.
